Losing Yourself in Motherhood?

There’s a moment, often quiet and unnoticed, when you realize you’ve drifted. You look in the mirror and see the same eyes — but behind them is someone you’re still getting to know. The woman who used to have space to dream, to rest, to move freely… now finds herself caring for everyone else first.

This isn’t failure. It’s the invisible cost of a culture that teaches women to give endlessly, but rarely to receive.

🌸 The Disappearance of Self

Motherhood, in its sacred fullness, can also bring a kind of soft erosion — a fading of the parts of you that once felt vibrant and alive. The long days, the mental load, the quiet sacrifices — they all accumulate in the body. You begin to speak less from your truth, and more from your survival. You might notice tension in your jaw, tightness in your chest, or a heaviness in your belly — signals from your body asking to be remembered.

This is not about going back to who you were before motherhood. It’s about reclaiming who you are now — a wiser, deeper, more embodied woman emerging from the transformation.

🌿 Returning to the Body

Our culture often tells us that “self-care” means bubble baths or a solo walk, but true reconnection begins much deeper — in the body itself. Your body is the keeper of your story. It remembers the births, the exhaustion, the joy, the grief, the moments you silenced yourself to stay calm or strong.

Through somatic practices, breath, and gentle movement, we begin to rebuild the bridge home to ourselves. We learn to listen again. To soften. To feel.

Try this simple practice:

  • Pause for a moment today and place a hand on your heart.

  • Feel the rise and fall beneath your palm.

  • Whisper to yourself, I am still here.

That remembering — that soft homecoming — is where healing begins.

🌕 You Are Not Lost — You Are Becoming

When you feel lost in motherhood, you are actually in the process of becoming. Just like matrescence — the sacred transformation into motherhood — every season of womanhood asks us to shed and re-form. Each cycle, each phase, is a new invitation to rediscover yourself.

The truth is: you were never meant to stay the same. You were meant to evolve — and to honor each version of yourself along the way.

If this resonates, know that this is the work I do. Through somatic sessions and women’s circles, I hold space for women to come home to their bodies, release stored emotion, and reclaim their authentic expression — beyond the roles they play.

Your body holds the map. You simply need a safe space to listen.
